About
Rich Tucciarone’s brewing career began in Steamboat Springs around 1990, leading him through five years at Breckenridge Brewery in Denver and twelve years with Kona Brewing Company in Hawaii before returning home to open Mountain Tap Brewery in 2016. The brewpub occupies the former Yampa Valley Electric Association building just across the 9th Street Bridge from Howelsen Hill, sitting within a stone’s skip of the Yampa River on what is rapidly becoming Steamboat’s Restaurant Row. Construction started in February 2016, and after a four-month buildout, the first brew, Picking Hops IPA, was concocted on June 17. The doors officially opened on July 7, 2016, with business partner Jeff Goodhand bringing extensive restaurant management experience to the table. Tucciarone, who holds a B.S. in Food Science from Cornell University and attended Siebel Institute of Brewing Technology, brings more than two decades of craft brewing expertise to the taproom. Patrons can enjoy fresh and innovative beers served as pints, tasters, crowlers, or growlers, making it a popular gathering spot for locals and visitors alike after days of skiing, hiking, or paddling in the surrounding mountains.
