Music in the Mountains

Our 40-year tradition of bringing classical music to Durango began with a simple mission: to introduce young people to the joy of live performance. Through our 'Goes to School' initiative, we bring scholarships and in-school programs directly to classrooms across the region, ensuring the next generation of musicians has the opportunity to thrive. Every summer, we transform Durango into a hub for classical, contemporary, and world music through our Summer Music Festival. Under the artistic direction of Vadim Gluzman, our Artistic Director and Principal Conductor-in-Residence, the festival showcases extraordinary talent in beautiful venues, featuring everything from intimate chamber pieces to the Rising Stars performance by young violin artists from around the globe. We believe music should be accessible to all, which is why we also host free concerts using our mobile stage program, bringing the orchestra to audiences in parks and public spaces across Southwest Colorado. Lifelong classical enthusiasts and first-time listeners alike find an unforgettable experience in our concerts.
