About
Restored 1888 Aspen Drugstore pharmacy fixtures anchor the Ouray Alchemist Museum, offering guided tours that explore historic local pieces and the evolution of pharmacy through patent medicines and early advertising methods. Located on Main Street just north of the Beaumont Hotel, our custom building features a distinctive green snake sign, gargoyles, and a copper dome. The full tour is recommended for adults or older children, as we do not allow young, rambunctious kids due to breakage risks. Tours are limited and book ahead, typically starting at 10 am, with a current rate of $20.00 per person. We also offer nonprescription over-the-counter items and helpful advice from two friendly retired pharmacists. Above the museum, our penthouse suite sits on the third floor, available for short-term rental through VRBO. This cozy space accommodates a maximum of two adults and requires a minimum stay of two nights, with no children allowed. The building was completed in 2011 and remains a work in progress, blending history with modern comfort. We reserve the right to adjust our hours based on tour schedules, so calling ahead is always wise.
