About
Annie Quathamer keeps the fires burning at Ouray Glassworks and Pottery, continuing a tradition established by founders Sam and Diane Rushing in 1991. Situated on Main Street in the alpine village of Ouray, the studio produces handblown glass and handcrafted pottery on site. Sam Rushing, holding a degree in chemistry and soils, built the first studio on a side street before moving to this central location six years later. The Rushings ran the gallery for 26 years before Annie apprenticed with them in 2017. She now carries on their distinguished style, creating unique utilitarian objects and artistic creations inspired by nature. Because the team is continually blowing glass and making pottery, the inventory changes daily. Visitors can find one-of-a-kind pieces that serve as great gifts or home decor, crafted in the San Juan Mountains. The studio accepts credit cards and offers wheelchair accessible parking.
