About
Constructed in 1955 by Kenneth and Dorothy Moorhead, the Ouray Inn stands as a log-built landmark just one block from Main Street. Originally known as the Circle M Motel, the property features walls reinforced with cottonwood logs and pump rod connectors, a detail preserved from its original construction. Christian and Kaytie Evans purchased the historic inn in September 2020, bringing experience from managing a boutique resort on Vieques, Puerto Rico. Guests enjoy cozy rooms that are dog-friendly, along with complimentary breakfast and evening happy hour. The location offers a quiet retreat away from traffic noise while remaining within walking distance of Ouray’s attractions, hot springs, and trails. The inn retains its family-owned character, having been lovingly cared for by multiple stewards since the Moorheads proved critics wrong by staying open despite not being on the main drag.
