Rifle Gap State Park

A 360-acre reservoir stretches through the Rifle Gap State Park, offering some of the clearest water in Colorado for boating, water skiing, and windsurfing. The long, narrow body of water invites jet skiers and power boaters to navigate its depths, while the north side boat ramp provides easy access to the lake. Beyond the water, the park spans 1,341 acres, featuring 90 campsites and 14 picnic spots for visitors looking to settle in. The visitor center, situated on the northeast side along State Highway 325, serves as a hub for information, offering exhibits, a gift shop, and restrooms. It also handles fishing and boating registrations, along with internet access, and supports Harvey Gap and Rifle Falls State Parks. Wildlife abounds in this area, with waterfowl and raptors frequenting the reservoir and mammals like mule deer, elk, and beaver appearing near East Rifle Creek. Reptiles, including Utah milk snakes and western yellow-bellied racers, can often be found sunning on nearby rocks. The park remains open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., providing a consistent destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking recreation and nature observation.
