Equine-assisted psychotherapy anchors the treatment model at Rites of Passage, a dual diagnosis holistic residential mental health facility perched at seven thousand feet on a 40-acre farm in Delta County, Colorado. The center treats trauma, PTSD, substance abuse, disordered eating, and failure to thrive for clients aged 11 and older. Up to four individuals aged 18 and over may enter the residential partial hospital level of care at this single address. The program utilizes an integrated approach that addresses underlying causes rather than just overt symptoms, offering customizable care plans. Therapies available include transpersonal, mindfulness, DBT, CBT, somatic, art, horticulture, wilderness, and ecotherapy. The property shares its grounds with sister company Gateways to Transformation, which provides intensive outpatient programs and transitional living spaces in separate buildings.
