The Nugget Mountain Bar

Built in 1969 and re-established in 2018, The Nugget Mountain Bar sits at an elevation of 8,804 feet, just half a mile south of Purgatory Resort. This historic establishment offers more than standard fare; it features live music performances every Friday and Saturday during both summer and winter seasons. Guests can enjoy offerings from the Backcountry Gourmet food truck, which serves salads, sliders, fries, and a dedicated kids' menu. The interior design reflects its mining heritage with authentic reclaimed wood lining the walls, a vintage 70s chairlift converted into an indoor swing, and a bar-top constructed from Colorado-used skis encased in glassy epoxy. A snowboard drink rail runs beneath large picture windows that frame views of the Twilight peaks, Spud Mountain, and Engineer Mountain. Outside, a large deck area provides an elevated vantage point for watching the snow fall on the Rockies. The lawn is enclosed by old railroad ties and features gas firepits, cornhole, and giant Jenga. Upstairs, a loft area with cascading skis offers additional seating for game watching or conversation. The bar operates as a full-service venue with wheelchair accessibility, parking, and credit card acceptance.
