The Ranch: A Peaceful Retreat Close to Glenwood!
About
The Glenwood Springs Municipal Airport operates as a general aviation facility under the ownership of the City of Glenwood Springs. Since May 1, 2024, management has transitioned to the newly formed nonprofit KGWS Sumers Airpark following a finalized lease agreement. This long-term arrangement, spanning an initial twenty-year term with two optional ten-year renewals, ensures the facility remains led by active airport users. The airport serves as a central hub for regional connectivity, linking travelers to the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority (RFTA) bus services that run from Aspen through Glenwood Springs to Rifle via the Grand Hogback route. Daily Bustang interregional express buses connect commuters along the I-70 Mountain Corridor to Denver from the West Glenwood Springs Park and Ride. Ground transportation extends further with Greyhound Bus Lines, which stops in Glenwood Springs daily to continue routes across the country. Amtrak’s California Zephyr also serves the area from the historical downtown depot on 7th Street, departing eastward at 12:10 p.m. and westward at 1:53 p.m. The Mountain Ride Transportation Resource Center assists visitors planning trips to multiple destinations in northwest Colorado, while the city provides accessible transit documentation in formats such as braille and large print.
