White Star Campground

Fragrant ponderosa pines and spruce trees surround White Star Campground at its 9,200-foot elevation on the north side of Twin Lakes Reservoir. This PSICC facility divides its grounds into three distinct loops: Sage Loop with limited shade, and the denser Ridge and Valley Loops. The Ridge Loop operates on a first-come, first-served basis with 16 campsites. Each site features a picnic table and campfire ring, with firewood available for purchase at the host station. Vault toilets and trash collection are provided throughout the grounds.

The campground serves as a base camp for hikers and mountain bikers exploring nearby trails, including the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail and the Mount Elbert Trail. The Continental Divide Trail runs directly past White Star, with a section from Halfmoon Road South to Twin Lakes open to mountain bikes. Nearby, the Mount Massive Wilderness area encompasses 30,540 acres and Colorado's second-highest peak. Visitors enjoy convenient access to Twin Lakes Reservoir, one of Colorado's largest natural glacial lakes spanning 2,805 acres. Water recreation options include sailing and water skiing, while fishing targets lake, rainbow, and Mackinaw trout. A boat ramp and angler fishing areas are located just down the road.

White Star Campground provides free Wi-Fi, 24-hour front desk service, and wheelchair accessible facilities. Parking is available for vehicles, with two cars included per reservation. The site accommodates up to eight people and three tents per site, or one RV with two tents. Dogs must be leashed at all times.
