Founded in 2012 by David Pehle, Williams Creek Angler operates as a specialty fly fishing equipment shop and guide service in Pagosa Springs. David’s career in the industry began locally in 1994, and he has since accumulated over twenty-five years of experience guiding trips and managing shops across the U.S. and abroad. We provide expert advice and exceptional gear from our spacious shop, serving as the National distributors of Soldarini Fly Tackle. Our guided trips cater to every fly fisherman and woman, leveraging our proximity to the legendary San Juan, Piedra, and Williams Creek rivers. Beyond guiding, we host hands-on Rod Building Classes, typically held in July and August, where participants learn fly rod anatomy, guide placement, thread wrapping, and epoxy techniques to create a custom, fish-ready rod. David’s background extends into destination travel, with past expeditions to Alaska for trout and salmon, the Amazon for Peacock Bass, and Bolivia for Large River Golden Dorado. He also founded The America Cup International Fly Fishing Tournament in 2007 and has supported Project Healing Waters for over ten years, helping veterans enjoy the sport. Operating under a special use permit with the San Juan National Forest and holding Colorado Outfitters License #3127, we remain active members of the American Fly Fishing Trade Association and Fly Fishers International.
