About this event

The Steamboat Springs History Museum is a must-see attraction with something for visitors of all ages. At the heart of the museum is a beautifully preserved 1901 Queen Anne-style Victorian home furnished with period pieces from the turn of the century.

Engaging and interactive exhibits explore the rich history of Steamboat Springs and the surrounding region, including Native American history, skiing and Olympians, agriculture and ranching, mining, pioneer settlement, town development, and more. The Western Heritage Exhibit features an extensive historic firearms collection, traces the area’s agricultural and ranching traditions, and shares the story of infamous outlaw Harry Tracy.

Additional museum highlights include computer and video interactives, hands-on exhibits for children, a kids’ scavenger hunt, an oral history library, a local history research center, a unique museum bookshop, and an online collection of historic photographs.

Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, and $2 for children ages 6–11. Children under age 6 are free. All Routt County residents receive free admission with valid identification.

Visit our website for current programs, events, tours, and seasonal offerings.

The museum also houses an extensive research center with historic documents, photographs, books, oral histories, and other archival materials. To schedule a research appointment, call (970) 879-2214.
