$0 is what you'll pay to gaze up at the night sky and witness the cosmic alignment unfolding over the Western Slope this week. That's because the celestial show is free, and it's coming to a sky near you, whether you're in Grand Junction, Delta, or somewhere in between.

The skies are alive with the sound of astrology, according to the Aspen Times, with multiple planets convening and shifting signs. Mars meets up with Neptune and Saturn, the sun joins Chiron, and the Aries new moon provides a reset. For folks around here, this means a lot of astrological juice is swirling for one little week.

When planets align, they join forces, and parts of our lives overlap, like a fold in the time-space continuum. This can feel smooth if they're vibing or rocky if they're not. Today, Mars meets with Neptune in Aries, which is like asking yourself, Am I acting on my dreams? Do I love myself enough to go for it?

Let's do the math: if you're someone who believes in the power of astrology, this alignment could be a significant moment for reflection and growth. On the other hand, if you're skeptical, it's still a great excuse to get outside and enjoy the night sky. Either way, it's not going to cost you a thing.

Mercury enters Aries tomorrow, completing our multi-planet transition into this fiery warrior zodiac sign. Mercury represents how we think, our awareness and consciousness. Aries teaches us to be ourselves, no matter what. With these two energies merging, you might wonder, Am I showing up in the world as myself? Am I aware of my true self, without all the familial and societal overlays that hide the real me?

In practice, this means taking a closer look at your values and goals. Are you living the life you want to live, or are you just going through the motions? This kind of introspection can be tough, but personal growth depends on being honest with yourself. And, on paper, it might seem like a lot to tackle, but it's really just about being honest with yourself.

On Thursday, the sun meets up with Chiron, which illuminates our core wounds. As these two connect, in Aries, you might ponder, Am I healing my emotional injuries so my authentic light can shine through? Have I cleaned the windows of my soul from the grime and gunk that all my hurts and trauma have muddied over?

For context, the Western Slope is a place where people often come to heal and find themselves. Whether it's the natural beauty of the landscape or the laid-back vibe of the community, there's something about this place that encourages introspection and growth. So, it's no surprise that this astrological alignment is happening now.

Friday morning, the moon catches up with the sun for the Aries new moon, which is like a launch pad for the monthly moon cycle. New moons are known as seed points, where we plant an intention for this single moon month. The moon represents our soul, and the sun signifies spirit or source energy. As these two unite, you might ask yourself, What intention do you want to sow that aligns your soul with spirit? What tiny step could you commit to this month to further your soul's cause?

The cost of setting an intention is zero, but the potential benefits are huge. By reflecting on what you want to achieve, you can set yourself up for success and create a sense of purpose. And, who knows, you might just find that the universe starts to conspire in your favor.

Saturday night, the crescent moon aligns with Venus, which is a sight to behold. Not only is this awe-inspiring, but it's also the basis for the first written story we have on earth. With this moon meeting, we're at the point in the original tale where the goddess Inanna (aka Venus) is reclaiming her golden bracelets that she relinquished on her journey to the underworld. As the moon and Venus unite, you could ask yourself, How are you doing with protecting yourself from outside attacks? Do you seek validation outside yourself? Do you listen to others about how you “should” be?

In the valley, we're lucky to have such dark skies, making it easier to see the celestial show. Get outside, look up, and enjoy the beauty of the universe. It's a reminder that we're all part of something much bigger than ourselves.

Finally, Sunday evening brings both Mars meeting with Saturn and the sun entering Taurus season. The practical bottom line is that this astrological alignment is a chance for reflection, growth, and healing. It's not going to cost you anything, but it could be worth a lot to you in the long run. So, take a glance at the sky, and see what the universe has in store for you.
