Aspen —What is the cost of a guilt-free dessert in Edwards?

Kiwi Riverside Delights at the Riverwalk says you pay for quality, not processed sugar. The menu is built on agave, honey, and coconut sugars. There is no refined white sugar in their products.

Jesus Chavez, co-owner, confirmed the standard. “We don’t use any processed sugar,” he said. “All my sweeteners come from agave, honey or coconut sugars and other natural sources.”

The shop offers traditional homemade ice cream. They also serve gelatos and vegan gelatos. The dairy-free options contain no eggs or milk. Sorbets are available for those avoiding all animal products.

Flavors run from Dubai chocolate to charcoal. The team gives samples so customers can verify their cravings before paying.

This location is new, but the brand has deep roots in the valley. Martha Trillo started Kiwi International Delights and Coffee Co. in Avon in 2014. She moved to Denver and expanded the brand on the Front Range.

Jesus Chavez’s parents, Laurencia Acosta and Jesus Chavez Sr., kept the Avon location running. The younger generation took over the new spot.

Jesus and his sister Britney Chavez now co-own Kiwi Riverside Delights. Jesus graduated from Colorado State University with a business degree. Britney recently finished at Boston University with a political science degree. She is applying to law school.

She took this year off to help her brother launch the Edwards location. “It’s very exciting because my brother and I are co-owner[s] of this location,” Britney said. “We are still a very family-run business.”

The space used to be a hot tub sales store. The Chavezes had to modify the layout to support large freezers for their ice cream displays. Laurencia Acosta remains the recipe architect. She prepares everything in the Avon kitchen and ships it to Edwards.

Beyond ice cream, the menu features healthy smoothies and juices. The Tropical Green smoothie combines spinach, banana, pineapple, and coconut water.

Customers can choose Berry Oats with strawberry, banana, chia, oat milk, or Greek yogurt. Homemade juices include the Super Green, which contains spinach, green apple, cucumber, ginger, kiwi, and celery.

Acai bowls have gained popularity. Waffles are served dessert-style rather than as a breakfast staple. The Tres Leches waffle comes with homemade ice cream.

For savory options, empanadas are available.

Feinsinger wrote in the Vail Daily about the operation. The reporting highlights the shift from a hot tub shop to a dessert hub. It notes the family dynamic driving the business.

Locals in Edwards now have a place that bridges the gap between indulgence and health. The price point is not explicitly stated in the reports, but the emphasis on "guilt-free" suggests a premium positioning.

The short version: You can eat the sweet stuff without the sugar crash. The family is still in charge. The recipes travel from Avon to Edwards daily.

Worth watching is how long the law school applications will keep Britney Chavez on site. If she leaves for Denver or Boston, who manages the daily operations? The answer lies with her brother and parents. For now, the freezers are full.
