Assault Investigation Leads to Arrest

Grand Junction Police arrested Jason Saul for assault and other charges after he barricaded himself in a hotel room on July 27, 2026.

Grand Junction, CO – On July 27, 2026, at approximately 10:20 p.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department were dispatched to a report of an assault in progress in the 700 block of Horizon Drive.

911 dispatchers with the Grand Junction Regional Communication Center received a call from an individual who stated a woman told him she had been assaulted and choked by a male. Officers learned the woman and a male had been arguing in a hotel room when the dispute escalated to physical assault.

Officers identified the suspect as 41-year-old Jason Saul and attempted to contact him in the hotel room. Upon officers' arrival, Saul barricaded himself inside the room and refused to cooperate before eventually exiting and being taken into custody.

Saul was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility where he was booked on charges of Assault in the Second Degree, Assault in the Third Degree, Violation of a Protection Order, and Domestic Violence.
