Xcel Energy's new gas services project will cause rotating closures on Railroad Avenue and several cross streets in Rifle until completion.
Residents and drivers should expect rotating closures on Railroad Avenue between E. 10th Street and E. 16th Street. Work will also take place on E. 10th, E. 11th, E. 12th, W. 12th and W. 14th streets.
Traffic Impacts: Intermittent closures and traffic impacts are expected throughout the project.
Project Timeline: Work will continue until the project is completed.

E. Seventh Street will close between Birch Avenue and Elder court from October 16 to 21 for asphalt milling and repaving.
Beginning October 13, 2026, Whiteriver Avenue will close between E. Ninth and E. 16th Streets for paving preparation, with full intersection closures expected.
The City of Rifle is transitioning out of its Tier 1 Drought Management Plan, which required voluntary outdoor water use reductions since June 5, 2026.
The northbound lane of Megan Avenue between Airport Road and Last Chance Drive will close for four weeks starting October 5, 2026, to install utilities.
