Trail users advised of changing conditions near Lumberyard affordable housing construction

**Aspen, CO – **Trail users should expect changing conditions along portions of the Aspen Airport Business Center and Annie Mitchell trails as construction continues on the city Lumberyard affordable housing development.

The city is working to balance two important priorities: delivering the community's largest-ever affordable housing project while maintaining safe public access to the trail system. Extensive planning has gone into the phased construction schedule to minimize closures and provide temporary trail routes whenever possible.

During construction, users may encounter trail re-routes, changing surface conditions, loose gravel or other materials, construction vehicles, and occasional temporary interruptions. Temporary routes will remain open whenever feasible and will be plowed during winter conditions.

Trail users are encouraged to slow down, stay alert, obey all posted signs and barriers, and use extra caution when traveling near active construction zones. Trail configurations may change as work progresses, and updates will be provided as needed.

The city appreciates the community's patience and cooperation as this important affordable housing project moves forward.
