About
Aspen Flats is a 2-mile moderate mountain biking trail located in Hayden, Colorado, on the Western Slope. The route begins at the Dunckley Pass winter trailhead and features singletrack that meanders through stands of aspen trees. The initial section includes a road segment that can be cut off, with parking available 0.25 miles into the trailhead area. The trail is technically a ski trail but serves as an easy and short option for riders, typically taking about one hour to complete. It provides access to the Spronks Creek Trail and is suitable for use from April through October. The area offers good views during fall color. Horses sometimes share the trail system, requiring riders to yield appropriately. The trail is pet friendly and located near Aspen, an old silver mining town in the Roaring Fork Valley.
