Aspen Mountain, locally called Ajax, is a ski area located directly above downtown Aspen, Colorado. It is known for having no beginner (green circle) runs, making it suitable for intermediate to expert skiers. The mountain rises from a base elevation of approximately 7,945 feet to a summit of 11,212 feet. Access is provided primarily by the Silver Queen Gondola, which departs from the Gondola Plaza on Durant Street. The terrain includes groomed slopes, steep gladed runs, and famous features such as the Mine Dumps and Ruthie’s Run. Dining options include the Sundeck at the peak, Bonnie’s at the base, and Ajax Tavern near the gondola. The ski season typically runs from November through April.
