Aspen Mountain, known locally as Ajax, is a town-side ski area in Aspen, Colorado. It serves as a primary spot for snowboarding with moderate difficulty terrain. The mountain has zero designated green circle runs, making it suitable for intermediate to expert snowboarders. Access is primarily via the Silver Queen Gondola, which departs from the Gondola Plaza on Durant Street. The ride to the summit takes 15 to 20 minutes. The summit elevation is 11,212 feet with a vertical drop of approximately 4,406 feet. The typical season runs from November through April. Parking is available near the base. On-mountain amenities include the Ajax Tavern at the base, the Sundeck at the peak, and Bonnie’s restaurant. The terrain features groomed runs and steep gladed areas, including the Mine Dumps.
