About

The Bachelor Syracuse Mine Tour is a guided hiking and tram experience located 3.5 miles north of downtown Ouray, Colorado. The activity involves walking approximately 1,500 feet horizontally into Gold Hill through the historic Syracuse Tunnel. The mine operated from the late 1800s until the mid-1900s, producing gold, silver, and other precious metals. Visitors take a tram into the underground workings to view real tunnels, blasting sites, and mineral veins. The tour typically lasts about two hours and is led by trained guides who explain early 1900s mining techniques. The path involves a 10 to 15-minute walk on level gravel pathways that can be wet or muddy. Closed-toe shoes are recommended, while flip-flops are not. Hard hats are provided. The tour operates seasonally from late May through early September, with daily tours available during this period. Parking is available at the trailhead. Walk-ins are welcome, though reservations can be made in advance. Pets are allowed on the tour. Optional gold panning is available using water from a real stream flowing out of Gold Mountain.
