Black and Tan is a single-pitch sport climb located in the Telluride area of the Western Slope, specifically within the Ophir Wall vicinity. The route is approximately 90 feet long and features sustained, near-vertical climbing on solid rock. The climb follows a distinct vertical line that transitions from tan to black rock, leading up to a triangular roof. The approach involves scrambling over loose rocks and dirt to reach the base of the route. A large boulder near the start serves as a gear stash area. The climb consists of ten bolts leading to a chain and Metolius rap hanger anchor. Climbers should carry a 60-meter rope to ensure lowering is possible. The route was first ascended by Bruce Eriksen and Paul Emrick in 2001. Access is currently open but subject to restrictions as the land is private property owned by the Idarado Mine. The public is permitted to use the access road maintained by the mine, provided they keep a low profile. Parking is available near the mine access road. The area is pet-friendly.
