About
Carson Lake Recreation Area is a tent-only camping site on the Grand Mesa near Grand Junction, Colorado. The area features approximately four primitive campsites equipped with picnic tables and fire rings. There is no running water or dumpsters, and cell service is generally unavailable. A new vault toilet is available, and parking is located nearby. The site serves as a municipal water supply, so flotation devices are prohibited on the lake. Access involves a steep drive from the mesa top to a large parking area, followed by a short walk or drive across the dam to the campsites. The recreation area supports fishing, hiking, and picnicking, with rainbow trout common in the lake. It is open from May through September.
