Coyote Cutoff

Coyote Cutoff is a 1.5-mile hiking and biking trail in Montrose, Colorado, managed by the BLM Uncompahgre Field Office. The trail begins at the Rim Road/Tabeguache parking area at the rim of Dry Creek Canyon. Access involves passing through a gate and descending a short distance on a 4WD road to reach the trailhead, marked by a Carsonite sign on the left. The route starts on an old doubletrack before transitioning into singletrack. The terrain features moderate downhill grades, several switchbacks, and short rocky sections. The trail descends to a 4WD road, allowing hikers to continue to Coyote Ridge or return via the Tabeguache Trail Dry Creek Section. The elevation ranges from 6,227 to 6,342 feet with a total elevation change of 115 feet. The surface is dirt. The trail is open to hiking, biking, horses, and motorcycles. Dogs are allowed. Parking is available at the start.
