The Crested Butte Land Trust manages over 6,000 acres of conserved land in the Gunnison Valley, offering moderate hiking trails accessible year-round. Located at 8,907 feet in Crested Butte, Colorado, the trails are situated within the Slate River valley and surrounding Elk Mountain range. Popular routes include the Lupine 1 and 2 trails, Woods Walk, Lower Loop, Gunsight Bridge, and Gunsight Connector. These paths are entirely or partially on Land Trust conserved lands and support hiking, biking, and winter Nordic skiing. The area is known for summer wildflower blooms, particularly lupines, which peak in mid-July. Hikes typically last about 2 hours and are rated moderate, making them suitable for those with some experience. Parking is available at trailheads, and dogs are permitted on leashes. The trails provide scenic views of the river, White Rock Mountain, and alpine meadows. No permits are required for day hiking.
