Demon is a rock climbing area near Montrose, Colorado, situated at an elevation of 5,662 feet. The site features moderate difficulty routes, making it suitable for climbers with some experience. Parking is available on-site, and the area is pet-friendly. Climbers can access Demon year-round, with peak activity occurring from mid-April to mid-June and late August to early November. The location offers a mix of sun and shade, with route lengths ranging from 30 feet to approximately 1,400 feet. Most routes are sport climbs, though traditional and multi-pitch options exist within the broader Montrose region. The area is accessible via Rim Road, with trailheads for nearby rock crawling and climbing located in the Dry Creek area of the Uncompahgre Plateau. A free wilderness use permit is required for inner canyon activities, including climbing, and can be obtained at the North Rim Ranger Station or South Rim Visitor Center. The rock types include sandstone and granite, providing varied climbing surfaces.
