Diagenesis is a sport climbing route located in the Grand Junction area of Colorado's Western Slope. The route begins at an elevation of 8,328 feet and features a 50-foot (15-meter) climb up an arete to fun pockets below the chains. The first ascent was recorded by Alex Garhart in November 2012. Protection consists of three bolts and a two-bolt anchor with chains, as noted by Jared Nelson. The route is classified as moderate difficulty and is accessible year-round from January through December. Climbers typically spend around four hours on the route. Parking is available on site, and pets are permitted. The location is situated near Grand Junction, which serves as the largest center on the Western Slope and lies at the junction of the Gunnison River and the Colorado River. The area offers canyon walls and desert cliffs suitable for various skill levels.
