The Durango Nature Center is a 140-acre facility situated on the Florida River, offering moderate hiking trails suitable for fall outings. The site traverses riparian, sagebrush, and pinyon juniper ecosystems, providing interpretive trails with signs identifying local plants and explaining the surrounding habitats. Hikers can expect a duration of approximately two hours. Practical amenities include available parking, restrooms, and a picnic pavilion. The area is pet friendly. While the facility itself is open year-round, the specific fall hiking context highlights the changing foliage and accessible river views. The center was acquired in 1998 by Durango Nature Studies.
