Early Settlers Campground is a developed RV and tent site within Vega State Park on the Western Slope, located near Collbran. The site sits along the shore of Vega Reservoir at an elevation of approximately 8,013 feet. It offers full hookups, including electric, water, and sewer, with a 45-foot RV length limit. The campground features 33 pull-through and back-in sites. Amenities include flush toilets, coin-operated showers, picnic tables, and fire pits. Direct access to the lake allows for fishing, boating, and kayaking. A 7.2-mile trail circles the reservoir for hiking and running. Cell service is generally limited or non-existent, though Wi-Fi is available in communal areas. The site is pet-friendly and wheelchair accessible. Reservations are made through ReserveAmerica or CPW. The campground is open from May through September. Access roads can be rough. The Vega Lodge restaurant is nearby for resupply.
