About
Elk Run is a 0.9-mile intermediate mountain biking singletrack located in the Cerro Summit Recreation Area, approximately ten miles east of Montrose on Highway 50. The trail connects the lower parking lot off Meadow Loop to the Narrow Gauge trail, with an elevation range between 5,809 and 7,964 feet. Riders encounter a mix of terrain including an old railroad grade, steep switchbacks through Gambel oak groves, and a small water crossing. The route is accessible from April through October and allows dogs, though riders should exercise caution if sheep are present in the area. Parking is available at the lower trailhead, and cell service ranges from two to five bars.
