About
G-Whiz is a moderate, 1.2-mile singletrack trail located near Rifle, Colorado, at an elevation of 5,804 feet. It is one of the most heavily used trails in the area, offering a twisty, flowy ride that is navigable in both directions, though clockwise travel is noted for better flow. The trail features rock gardens and a specific technical feature known as Rattlesnake Rock, which erodes over time; descending is manageable for intermediates, while ascending requires advanced skill. Parking is available at the trailhead, and pets are permitted. The trail is typically open from April through October. Riders can extend the route by connecting to G-Whiz Horseshoe, a short, difficult technical section located past a washed-out area resembling a 4x4 road.
