About

The Gunsight Connector is a 2.3-mile dirt trail in Crested Butte, managed by the Town of Crested Butte. It connects the Slate River parking area on County Road 734 to Smith Hill Road, serving as a connector route rather than a summit destination. The trail gains approximately 636 feet of elevation, reaching a high point of 9,620 feet. It is rated easy to moderate and is suitable for hiking, biking, and horses. Dogs are allowed if leashed. The route traverses dense aspen forest with switchbacks, offering intermittent views of Mt. Crested Butte and the valley toward Scarp Ridge. Parking is available at the Slate River trailhead. The trail is accessible year-round, though winter conditions may include snow and ice.
