About
Hawkeye Road serves as a connector within the Kokopelli Loops trail network near Loma and Mack, Colorado, linking the Mack Exit trailhead to the northern end of the Troy Built trail. The road itself is a hard-packed adobe clay route that provides access to the singletrack Hawkeye Trail, which climbs from the road up to a junction with Mack Ridge. The singletrack features moderate switchbacks and optional technical lines over boulders and rock outcrops, offering views of the Grand Valley. The road connects major parking areas, including the Kokopelli Trailhead and the Mack Exit parking lot, with additional primitive parking available midway. The trail is accessible year-round, though the adobe clay surface becomes difficult to traverse when muddy. Cell service is generally available with 3-5 bars. The route is primarily used by mountain bikers but is also frequented by hikers.
