Junction Creek Campground

Junction Creek Campground is a moderate difficulty camping area located 5 to 6 miles northwest of Durango, Colorado, within the San Juan National Forest. Situated at an elevation of approximately 7,300 to 7,340 feet on a south-facing hillside, the site is surrounded by ponderosa pine and gambel oak forests. It serves as a base for hiking and mountain biking, particularly due to its proximity to the start of the Colorado Trail. The campground offers 44 campsites, including single-family, double-family, and one group site accommodating up to 50 people. Most sites are reservable, with 14 offering electrical hookups and a maximum RV length of 60 feet. Amenities include accessible vault toilets, drinking water (with seasonal limitations in late September and October), campfire rings, and picnic tables. The site is open from May through September, though some extended summer operations occur in October with limited services. Pets are allowed, but horses and pack animals are not permitted.
