About

Junction West Durango Riverside Resort is a camping facility located along the Animas River in the Hermosa Valley, just north of historic downtown Durango. The site sits at an elevation of 6,761 feet and offers moderate difficulty access suitable for a range of campers. The campground operates seasonally from May through September, with some sources extending availability into early November. The campground features six designated tent sites situated on gravel pads. Each site includes water and electric hookups, a picnic table, and a fire ring. Parking is provided for one vehicle per site, with overflow parking available in an adjacent gravel lot for trailers and off-road vehicles. The facility is pet-friendly, allowing pets at no additional cost for the first one. Amenities on-site include a swimming pool, which is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, a game room, a convenience store or snack bar, and Wi-Fi. A community firepit and large deck are available for guest use. The location provides direct access to river activities such as fishing and rafting, with the Animas River running through the property. The site is approximately 15 minutes from downtown Durango and close to the San Juan National Forest. Historical context includes proximity to Bakers Bridge, a filming location for 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' in 1969. The campground has been operating since 1965.
