The Kannah Creek Trailhead provides access to Trail #706 in the Grand Mesa National Forest, located near Grand Junction on the Western Slope. The trail begins at an elevation of 6,087 feet and ascends through the Kannah Creek Basin on the western flanks of Grand Mesa. It is classified as a moderate route, typically requiring about two hours to complete for the initial section, though the full out-and-back distance extends 8.2 to 9 miles with an elevation change of approximately 3,718 to 3,770 feet. The trail runs parallel to Kannah Creek for its entire length, offering fishing opportunities and multiple creek crossings that hikers should consider during spring run-off. Fall hiking is recommended from September through November, with the trail generally remaining dry and displaying seasonal foliage changes. Parking and restrooms are available at the trailhead. The site is pet-friendly, allowing dogs on leashes or off-leash, and permits hiking, biking, and horseback riding. The area is managed by the USFS Grand Valley Ranger District.
