About

Lakeview Campground sits at 9,500 feet on the shore of Twin Lakes Reservoir, approximately 20 miles south of Leadville in the San Isabel National Forest. The site offers views of the reservoir and Mount Elbert, with habitats of lodgepole pine, ponderosa pine, and sage. Facilities include eight loops (A-H) with picnic tables, fire rings, pedestal grills, and vault toilets. Water is currently unavailable for the 2026 season, so visitors must bring their own. Firewood is available at the host site. The campground accommodates tents, RVs, and group camping, with loops A-F available for reservation and loops G-H operating on a first-come, first-served basis. Pets are allowed. Recreation includes fishing for lake, rainbow, and mackinaw trout, boating, and hiking. The Continental Divide Trail passes the campground, and mountain biking is permitted from Halfmoon Road south to Twin Lakes. The area serves as a gateway to the Mount Massive Wilderness to the north and the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness to the south. High altitude sickness is a potential factor.
