Longshot

Longshot is a rock climbing site located near Crested Butte on the Western Slope of Colorado. The primary feature is a 15-foot boulder, often referred to as the Joint Boulder, situated at an elevation of 9,356 feet. The climb involves ascending the left side of the north face. The route presents difficult initial moves and challenging conditions near the top, which is approximately 20 feet up. An aspen tree marks the position of the climber during the ascent. The site is classified as moderate in difficulty, making it suitable for climbers with intermediate skills. Access to the boulders is open but restricted by private property boundaries. Climbers are advised to enter from the north side to avoid the southern entrance, which crosses private land. Parking is available on site. The area is pet-friendly, allowing dogs to accompany climbers. While the existing description notes year-round accessibility and an average climb duration of four hours, these are general estimates. The rock quality is described as good, and pads are used for protection during the short ascent.
