About
Love and Rockets is a sport climbing route located in Rifle Mountain Park, Rifle, Colorado. The route sits on Leadville Formation limestone and is classified as difficult, specifically graded 5.12. It is positioned as the left-hand route of two 5.12 options climbing out from the right side of a vertical panel beneath a roof band. The climb follows a blue-grey streak on rock that appears steeper than it looks. The route features pockets and requires tricky, in-your-face moves. Protection consists of 8 to 10 bolts. Access involves scrambling out to the right onto a dirty ledge for the belay station. Parking is available at the area. The site is pet friendly. The climbing area is known for having grades that feel one to two numbers harder than typical due to the overhanging style and pocket-heavy terrain.
