Lower Cascade Falls Trail

Lower Cascade Falls Trail is a short, steep out-and-back hike in downtown Ouray, Colorado, leading to the base of a 330-foot waterfall. The trail begins at the end of 8th Avenue, where a dedicated public parking lot is located. The path is unpaved and rocky, climbing moderately through a canyon alongside Cascade Creek. Hikers cross a footbridge over the creek before reaching the falls. The route is approximately 0.3 to 0.5 miles long and is generally considered moderately difficult due to the steep, rocky terrain. Amenities at the trailhead include restroom facilities, picnic tables, and benches near the waterfall for resting. Dogs are permitted on a leash. Access can be limited during winter months due to snow, with the trail typically open from February through November. The trail connects to the Upper Cascade Falls Trail via a steeper climb near the Amphitheater Campground.
