Lower Chutes & Ladders is a 2.86-mile point-to-point hiking trail in the North Fruita Desert near Fruita, Colorado. The trail begins with steep, short uphill climbs known as 'Ladders' followed by smooth, fast downhills called 'Chutes.' After these initial intense sections, the terrain transitions to a flowy, easy segment often described as a 'cow pasture' area. The route is rated moderate and typically takes about 2 hours to complete. Parking is available at the trailhead. Dogs are allowed but must be on a leash. There is no water available on the trail. The area is open year-round, though spring and fall offer the most pleasant hiking conditions due to hot summers. The trail is shared with mountain bikers.
