The Mailbox Trail is a 0.8-mile one-way connector in the Buzzard Gulch Trail System near Montrose, Colorado. It serves as a steep, rocky link between Dave Wood Road and the main Buzzard Gulch trails, with portions also forming part of the Vulture Rim Loop. The trail begins behind a cluster of mailboxes at the trailhead, immediately climbing a small hill where footing becomes challenging due to river rocks and steep grades. After gaining elevation, the route levels off, crossing a sagebrush flat and juniper stands before sweeping down the west side of the ridge into Buzzard Gulch. The trail ends at the bottom of the hill, where it meets the Buzzard Gulch trail system approximately a quarter-mile from the main trailhead. Elevation ranges from roughly 6,178 to 6,306 feet. The trail is used by both hikers and mountain bikers and is accessible year-round, though conditions vary with weather.
