Monolith Spire - Dewar Dihedral is a rock climbing route located within Colorado National Monument, just outside Grand Junction on the Western Slope. The site sits at an elevation of 4,762 feet and is accessible year-round from January through December. Climbers typically spend about 6 hours on the ascent. The route is classified as difficult, with specific pitches ranging from 5.9 to 5.10+. The climb begins by ascending a large dihedral on the left side of a feature called the catcher's mitt. The first pitch covers 130 feet and features hands-to-wide-hands climbing past an anchor. The second pitch traverses right over thin cracks and manky rock to a 5.9 offwidth crack, covering 60 feet. The final pitch is a 70-foot face climb up a bolted arete to the summit. Descent involves rappelling from the summit to pitch two, then off the back side of the tower. Parking is available at the site, and pets are permitted. The location is accessible from the Lower Monument Canyon Trailhead.
