The Montrose Riverway Trail North Trailhead provides a moderate, accessible hiking route along the Uncompahgre River in Western Colorado. Located at an elevation of 5,735 feet, the trail begins off Tributary Street and follows a mostly level path that mirrors the river's gradient. The route spans approximately 1.5 miles of new concrete trail connecting to the broader Riverway system, with a total duration of about two hours for completion. The area is pet-friendly and offers convenient parking and restrooms at the trailhead. Hikers can view Gold Hill, which features visible old mine buildings high above the valley, and spot local waterfalls along the way. Benches and fitness stations are installed along the path, supporting a leisurely pace.
