About
Mutt Lange is a sport climbing route located in Rifle Mountain Park, west of Denver on the Western Slope. The crag sits at an elevation of 5,737 feet and features limestone walls with excellent quality. The specific route is a short 40-foot (12-meter) climb rated around 6b+ to 5.11a, depending on the source. It is bolted with ring anchors and requires approximately six clips. The climb begins near wooden stairs across from the Feline Parking lot, making access straightforward for drivers with parking available at the base. The area is pet-friendly and allows dogs on leashes. Climbers must pay an entrance fee to enter Rifle Mountain Park and should park in designated areas to avoid fines. The route is accessible year-round, though the canyon can be crowded on weekends between May and September. Winter conditions may affect access but do not close the area entirely.
