About
The Nose is a rock climbing spot on Palisade Mountain near Palisade, Colorado. The site sits at 5,098 feet elevation and offers moderate difficulty routes suitable for beginners and experienced climbers. Access is via a paved parking lot at Nancy's Rock on the north side of US Highway 34. A short trail leads from the lot to the base of the climb through forested terrain. The climbing features solid, weathered granite with glacial polish. Key features include an obvious dike system and a tight overhung lip near the start rated around 7ish. Above the roof, slab sections require careful footwork. The route is protected by bolts and fixed pins, concluding at a shared two-bolt anchor. Climbers can rappel or lower off from the top. The area is pet friendly and allows parking on site. Morning hours are advisable for climbing to avoid afternoon heat reflecting off the rock surfaces.
