About
Pete Rock is a short, one-way mountain biking trail in Rifle, Colorado, located within the Grand Hogback Trail System. The route spans 0.3 miles and is rated difficult due to technical rock features created by Gumption Trail Works. The trail begins with a moderate double drop known as Wave Rock and leads to two large, back-to-back boulders with steep but rollable drops. A log skinny connects these features before the trail ends at a hub near Wall Street and Notorious B-Side. The elevation is 5,358 feet. Parking is available for riders. Pets are permitted on the trail. The typical season runs from April through October, with closures generally occurring between December and mid-April. While the trail is short enough to complete in minutes, its technical nature requires skill to navigate the drops and alternate lines. The trail is designed with go-arounds for less experienced riders, though the main line remains challenging.
