About

Playing Timmy Sticks is a two-pitch rock climbing route located on Palisade Mountain in the Big Thompson Canyon, near Loveland and Estes Park. The crag sits at an elevation of approximately 7,600 feet on the north side of the canyon. The route is rated 5.9- and features a parallel crack system within a granite dihedral. A distinctive flake marks the climb roughly 30 feet above the ground. The total length is about 200 feet, split into two pitches that combine technical hand jams with face holds. The approach involves a 25-minute hike over stable footing through pines and spruces. Parking is available, and pets are allowed. The area offers year-round access, with south-facing aspects making it suitable for winter and early spring climbing. Climbers should expect moderate exposure and standard rack gear, though careful placement is required around the flake. The typical duration for the climb and approach is about five hours.
