About

Princess Ella's Magical Adventure is a 4-pitch, 270-foot sport climb on Red Mountain Pass near Ouray, Colorado. The route climbs solid quartzite rock with a moderate difficulty, generally rated 5.8 YDS. It is classified as Grade II, indicating short pitches and minimal walking time. The climb begins at the toe of a small buttress, approximately 30 feet above the creek. The first pitch involves shiny bolts leading up 75 feet to a ledge with a big pine. The remaining three pitches follow friendly bolts up a headwall to a final big ledge. The route offers two possible finishes: the standard 5.8 or a leftward variation rated 5.8+. The descent requires four rappels using a single 70m rope. The approach follows the Waterfall Wall trail upstream past the Tyrolean, then heads straight or right up a gully before turning climber's left (south) along the cliff base for about 150 yards. The route is visible from Highway 100, just south of the parking area. While the rock is generally solid, some loose rocks are present. The area is pet friendly and parking is available.
