About
The Prospect Loop is a moderate singletrack mountain biking trail in Telluride, Colorado, traversing the Telluride Ski Resort. The route begins at the San Sophia Gondola station, accessible via a short gondola ride from either downtown Telluride or Mountain Village. The trail spans approximately 8 to 9 miles, featuring a mix of smooth singletrack and technical sections with cornering climbs. Riders encounter two stream crossings, thick spruce forest, and open ski runs offering views of the surrounding area. The elevation gain is approximately 3,395 feet, starting near 10,500 feet. The trail is typically open from April through October. During operating hours (9 AM to 5 PM on weekdays and weekends in late season), riders must show a Cross Country (XC) or Bike Park pass to exit the gondola with their bike. Parking is available near the trailhead, and pets are allowed. The terrain varies from fast downhill sections through the woods to flowy singletrack, with potential for mud after rain.
